Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering
Manoj Gupta
I am an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar. My research focuses on graph algorithms, randomized algorithms, streaming algorithms, and data structures, with recent work on dynamic and fault-tolerant graph problems.
I enjoy problems where clean mathematical structure leads to efficient algorithms: dynamic matching and independent sets, replacement paths, distance oracles, binary search trees, and resilient network primitives.

PhD Opportunities for Mathematically Strong Students
I am looking for mathematically strong students interested in graph theory, combinatorics, probability, discrete mathematics, and optimization who may want to explore research in theoretical computer science.
My group works on graph algorithms, shortest paths, distance preservers, spanners, fault-tolerant graph structures, and dynamic algorithms. These problems are proof-oriented and mathematical in nature.
Prior CS research experience is not required; comfort with proofs and willingness to learn basic algorithms are more important. Interested students may contact me for a short reading project, summer project, or a discussion about PhD opportunities at IIT Gandhinagar.
